The darkside triumped again

Once upon the time, there were two german kick off players- Both played a lovely kick off style, simple but nice to watch (an unknown dutch player will not agree to that :-) . Ok one of them was well known for his fouls, well he nearly always do fouls you could say. So honestly lets say, both friendly and good-natured german kick off players played a lovely kick off that does not include fairness.

The the darkness came upon them. During a trip to the land of high prices and little black haired women, both were thrown to the dark sind. No not Sensie :-) , but even worse than that (or maybe this touch of evil was the reason for their interest in the Sensie world).
While one of these formerly good-natured players learned immediatly the BLC, only some mounth later even the other learnded how to do the midfield lob. Sad but true again two innocent souls were lost to the club of evil lobbers.

For all of you who are out there playing kick off: Beware of them! Thair names are: Frank “John BLC” F. and Thorsten “Sindre Lob” B.

Wiesbadener Sommer Cup 2010

We had a great time in sunny Wiesbaden and enjoyed a lot of great Kick off games, a good barbecue and some beers and applewine.

This time we had the pleasure to had two newbies attending the tournament. While Joerg S already played in the last Frankfurt tournament, Joerg D played Kick off for the first time. We were able to organize a little warm up training for both, and in the end we could see, that both played already a nice Kick Off. They were able to stop the ball and even to score.

Due to our goal to integrate the newbies so that they enjoy the game, the seeding of the first round was done by Seeding Dictatorship: We played in two groups each player against each other. In the second round we had the two best players of each group in a Gold Cup and the two weaker players in the Silver Cup. After this second round we continue: 2 Weaker players of the Silver Cup played the game of shame, 2 Stronger players of the Silver Cup and the 2 weaker players of the Gold Cup played a quarter final. Next the 2 stronger players of the Gold Cup and the winners of the quarter final played the half final followed by the final.

RMKO goes Sensible World of Soccer

This weekend Frank F and Thorsten B visit the Donatus Cup 2010 in Frohnrath near Euskirchen near Cologne (in the Eifel hills).

We wantd to find out, if the sensible scene is comparable to the Kick off scene, and we found out that it is comparable. We had a great day at the tournament and we meet a loot of friendly people.

The tournament itself started around 2 o’clock in the afternoon. We were 17 players. We had some rain in the morning, so it was not as hot as the days before and it was a great time, to play some games and sit outside and talk a bit. We also did a barbecue and some pizzas were ordered. Frohnrath is a very little village and the location was the village community centre I guess. We had everything we need there and enough space for 2 old PC systems (Windows ME) to run the PC-SWOS version.
The tournament went trough the first round. Next the players finished last in the two groups did another round, while the rest did a qualification round for the quarter finals. The players finished last in the qualification round also did a own round while the rest playing the quarter, half and final (also the game for the 3rd place). So in the end the tournament ended at 0.30 on Sunday!

Here some pictures

Frank had no luck and was in the group with the better players. He managed to win 2 games and had some draws, but ended in the fun cup. There he managed to score no goal and so he ended last of the tournament.

Thorsten had luck and was in the easier group. There he won his first Sensible Soccer game ever and also did well in the other games. In the end he won 3 games and had some more draws. In the qualification round he had no chance at all and did not even scored a gaol, so in the end. He also finished last in the next round (but at least a goal and a draw) and finally finished 12th. A great success. The halffinals were great sport. In the final Peter had no chance against Andreas, so the favorite AndyYpsilon (Andreas) won the tournament.

KO2 is back in the eSports

We got in touch with Gaetano, the organizer of the Olymptronica event in Frankfurt some mounth ago thanks to bmX the organizer of the eJagFest Europe. Cause the Olymtronica will be later the year, we took the chance to take part in another event Gaetano organized, the Frankfurt Summer games.

For the first time, the RMKO team joined a gaming event with other communities. It was something new to us, to play together with Tekken and Super Browl players at the same event, and we enjoyed it and we will do this again when the next gaming meeting will be.

The event took place in the university of applied science (Fachhochschule) in Frankfurt. Cause the were still some exams going on, we also had some audience of normal stundents.

After building up our stuff, we did some training sessions and explained KO2 to the people who showed interest. Most of them of course were a little bit older than the “normal” student, but a lot people remember the game as a great one.

Horst & Jörg playing KO2

Jan showed his magic tricks

The other communities also were training for their tournaments. We hoped to join a Mario Karts tournament, but the Super Browl tournament took to long and so we have to wait for the next issue.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Tekken (PS3)

At the HomeCon we got in touch with Jörg already, and he announced his participation a day before at Facebook, so this time we were 5 players in the tournament.

ThorN, Horst, Frank, Neewalix, Jörg

The tournament had not one suprise, even that the games of the weaker players were all challenging. Frank once again won the tournament, Thorsten scored 2nd, Horst 3rd, Jan 4th and Jörg 5th.

Jörg was a complete beginner and he learned fast so that in his last match he already did some nice combinations and stopping the ball already worked quite well. So we hope to see him at the next tournaments as well.

Jörg's Adventures

Before the event we arranged that 1 hour before the WC game Argentina against Germany, we would do a show match with this teams as a KO2 game. So at 15′00 o’clock we plug in our Amiga 1200 to the beamer and Horst played Argentina and Thorsten played Germany. Now that we know the real result (0-4) it is amazing, that we had the same result in the game as well. Even that it ended 2-5 for Germany the game really had a lot of similarities. 4-0 against Argentina nobody would have said this result before, that was a great victory for Germany and so it was a great KO2 game as well.

Beside the eSport tournamenty and the public viewing (dear english native speakers: in dinglish this means that a game is broadcasted at a public place, so that many people could watch it) the local robotic football team of the University of Frankfurt also showed their game. They seemed to have bigger problems with the heat (nearly 40 degree) so I did not see that many actions of them, but the next winter comes for sure :-)

So many thanks to Gaetano for this great event and thanks to all the people show showed their interest in KO2

During our trip to the “Artic invite” to Tromsoe / Norway, we had the chance to see a match of the 3rd round of the norwegian cup between Tromsdahlen UIL (2nd division) and Tromsoe IL (1st Division). Tromdahlen is a suburb of Tromsoe, so it was a real derby. We were in the stadium of TUIL and it was a great atmosphere and damned cold if the sun was not shining and damned hot if the sun was shining.

Frank F. was very close to beat Oliver St. at the Cologne tourny

Freddy organized a nice little tournament in Cologne on Sunday. Frank and I use this tournament as a training for the next international tournaments.

Cause I was to tireded, not good prepared, and last but not least, because my oponemnets were one class better than I, I lost all my games, but at least scored 3-4 goals.

Frank had a much better day, and was very close to beat Oliver St. The first game ends with a draw, and the second one 5-6 for Oliver St. So lets see what happens the next games between these two.

Freddy also played a good Kick Off, but among these two giants it was hard for him too.

Hope we see soon the group photo
