Xerus wins round #3/15: Lethal Xcess

Concratulation Xerus, his score was once again outstanding (300% of the 2nd place) .

I reached the 2nd place, but it was a hard fight against ChrisTOS. Sad that I reached the end boss of the 2nd level only in my last game, and I did not mange to pass him by.

ThorN’s opinion on: Lethal Xcess average
Lethal Xcess has a fantastic level design. It looks hard, but it’s never unfair. To make progress in the game, you have to learn the right extra weapon tacktic. The right one is often surprising in the end. The graphics are great, and the sound is suberb. Due to the fact that the game was not sold that often, it’s also interesting, that beside the atari, the game is a little bit unknown, even that there is a Amiga version. (The disks worked on both machines!) So go out and show it to your Amiga friends :-)

Here some tipps:

  • Use the drone weapon in Level 1 first. Later change to the blaster weapon. If you collect 3 of the same weapons, both are very powerfull.
  • Find the extra lifes. Often they are hidden when you could use a mega bomb to clear the whole screen
  • Use the right joystick

My favorite joystick for Lethal Xcess:

Competition Pro
First I used my standard stick, the USB version plugged in a PC running STEem. The disadvantage of it is, that you can’t reach a high shoot frequency and after a while your hand really hurts.

Competition Pro

PC Pad
The right choice for a Emulator. The button works fine and you are able to shoot in a constant high frequency

CMS
On the real hardware, my CMS was great. The stick and the button work accurate and fast.
